Definition : Panic Attack
To panic in the face of danger is a normal reaction. Panic triggers a set of emotional and physical reactions. But, when these reactions occur for no apparent reason, it is called a panic attack. This disorder is characterized by sudden attacks of intense anxiety followed by the fear that these attacks will strike again.
Here are the most common symptoms of a panic attack:
- Dizziness
- Numbness
- Hyperventilation
- Difficulty to breathe
- Nausea
- Headache
- Depersonalization (feeling detached from your body)
- Fear of losing control
- Fear of dying
- Fear of fainting
- Chest pain
- Muscle tension
- Shakiness
- Sweating
- Palpitations
- Stomach pains
- Lump in the throat
- Dry mouth
- Tingling
- Hot flashes
